TORONTO, ON (October 20, 2025) − Choice Hotels Canada is proud to share the 2025 national winners of its prestigious annual Awards for Property Excellence (APEX). Established in 2010, these awards represent a long-standing tradition of recognizing the very best across the Canadian portfolio of more than 350 hotels. This year, 13 outstanding hotels and individuals were honoured for their exceptional performance, unwavering commitment to guest service and excellence in operations.

The 2025 national APEX winners are:

  • Highest Guest Satisfaction (Top LTR):Comfort Inn & Suites in Terrace, BC: This award recognizes the property that achieved the highest Likelihood to Recommend (LTR) score in Choice Hotels Canada’s guest insight surveys over the last year. This spring, the hotel also received its fourth Platinum Guest Satisfaction Award from Choice Hotels Canada and is a previous Choice Canadian Hotel of the Year winner.
  • Marketing Star Award: Comfort Suites Kelowna, BC: This award recognizes a hotel or hotel group that stands out from the crowd when it comes to local marketing. The winner works in collaboration with Choice Hotels Canada’s marketing team to leverage resources available to enhance its local marketing efforts.
  • Choice Privileges Ambassador of the Year: Comfort Inn & Suites Edmonton International Airport, AB: This award recognizes a hotel that stands out as an ambassador of Choice Privileges, Choice Hotels’ award-winning travel rewards program. The recipient helps promote Choice Privileges’ value on-property, consistently motivating the team and fellow Ambassador community, participating in related webinars, and supporting promotions or offers.
  • Sales Excellence Award: Neelam Rawat, Quality Inn West Edmonton, AB: This award recognizes an individual who demonstrates outstanding sales efforts in collaboration with Choice Hotels Canada’s tools and sales team, resulting in increased sales for the property.
  • Renovation of the Year Award: Bayview Wildwood Resort, an Ascend Collection Resort located in Severn Bridge, ON in the Muskoka region. This award recognizes achievements in outstanding on-brand renovations that drove guest satisfaction increases.
  • Revenue Management Excellence Award: Dharmesh Patel, general manager, Quality Inn in Leamington, ON: This first-time award recognizes an individual who demonstrates outstanding efforts in revenue management (RM) and engages with Choice Hotels Canada’s RM team and tools.
  • Leader of the Year Award: Jamie Moody,general manager, Quality Inn & Suites in Petawawa, ON: This peer-based award recognizes an individual whose achievements include outstanding operational practices and results, team building and profit growth.Under Jamie’s leadership, the property has consistently risen to the top of the Choice Hotels Canada network, earning eight prestigious Platinum Guest Satisfaction Awards and six Gold Awards—a clear testament to his ability to inspire excellence, drive results, and deliver an outstanding guest experience.
  • Mark Pearce Spirit of Hospitality Award: Christopher Green of Quality Inn & Suites in Kingston, ON & Rajan Sharma of Sleep Inn Regina East, SK, both guest service agents. This peer-nominated award is named for Mark Pearce who was the Senior Vice President of Choice's International Division and traced his roots with the company back to Canada, when he started with Choice Hotels Canada in 1993. He truly embraced Choice’s mission, to make everyone feel ‘Welcome, Wanted and Respected’ – guests, franchisees and associates alike. October 16th, 2025 – CALGARY – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Travelodge Canada is pleased to announce the opening of its newest property, the Travelodge by Wyndham Valleyview, located in northwestern Alberta. This marks the brand's fifth new hotel opening this year, growing the brand presence to more than 95 Travelodge by Wyndham and Thriftlodge branded hotels across the country.

The Travelodge by Wyndham Valleyview officially opened its doors on October 15th with 98 well-appointed guestrooms. Conveniently located on highway 43, the hotel is just an hour’s drive from Grande Prairie Airport, and walking distance from most of Valleyview’s services. The hotel features modern guestrooms, with a significant number offering kitchenettes—a key feature for extended-stay guests and work crews. Guests will find everything they need on-site, including a full-service restaurant, a well-equipped fitness centre, complimentary high-speed WiFi, and extensive accessible parking large enough to accommodate trucks and RVs.
